In spring male birds get obsessed with their own reflection, they fly against reflections trying to fight off the threatening male they see in dark windows and mirrors left on sills. There has been a chaffinch flying at the living room window all week and the duck keeps flying into the window of the back door leaving muddy prints. More recently he became mesmerized by the mirror in the bathroom and flew through the window to peck his own reflection and then look behind the mirror to try and get closer.
